Three Goals to Achieve Legendary Status

Some people are strong. Some people are resilient. Some people are tough.

Most people are not any of those.

Some people are one and that makes them standout, but not much more.

Some people are two out of three and they are often people worthy of praise. They accomplish things. They achieve things. They inspire others.

Very few people are all three. People who are all three are amazing. They are legend. They are also rare. You do not know anyone who is all three, but you have probably read about them. You might even know someone who will, one day, be all three…but probably not right now. If you did, you would know it; they would, too.

Each is unique in what it confers on a person, but there are limitations. That is why one is interesting, but can be ignored, whereas two draws a little more attention, while three is impossible to miss.

Strong is the ability to overcome. But strength doesn’t mean toughness.

Tough is the ability to withstand. But toughness doesn’t mean resilience.

Resilience is the ability to recover. But being resilient does not mean anything if you cannot overcome resistance or withstand challenges — that is just living, and you do not get credit for something that happens with or without your complicity.

Survival is innate. Your cells want to live, even when you might not.

But “living” is not thriving, and simply surviving trials and tribulations is not the same as overcoming or withstanding them. But too many of either will sap strength and erode toughness — resilience brings both back.

Strong. Tough. Resilient.

Achieve one, be better. Achieve two, be great. Achieve all three, be legendary.

“Strong. Tough. Resilient. Achieve one, be better. Achieve two, be great. Achieve all three, be legendary.”
